Senior CPI(M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami criticised the profiling of mosques in Kashmir, calling the move unwarranted.
In a post on X, Tarigami said targeting or controlling places of worship of a specific community amounted to interference in religious affairs and undermined the constitutional guarantee of freedom of religion.
He warned that such actions would only add to prevailing discontent in the region, deepen alienation and erode public trust.
He urged the authorities to refrain from such measures.
” Such actions amount to interference in religious affairs and undermine the constitutional gurantee of freedom of religion”, Tarigami wrote on X.
